In our October 18, 2017 progress report we notified you that Nenkashe Education Centre must plan to get a second teacher because the number of pre-school children has reached 20. We are fortunate to have Sylvia take up this responsibility on internship because in addition to helping in the pre-school, Sylvia will also get credit towards her Early Childhood Education diploma at Narok Teacher’s College. Sylvia and Ann are now teaching a total of 30 pre-school children.
Sylvia was the very first child to be recruited into the Nenkashe Education Centre sponsorship 11 years ago. She is the first born of a family of 9 and she has 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She loves teaching young children and her greatest wish is to become a successful teacher and farmer.
Sylvia stays with her grandmother in the Great Rift Valley near Mount Suswa when she is not in college. She lost her mother when she was young and her father re-married. She plans to use her salary from teaching to buy chickens that she will keep at her grandmother’s place in a bid to make extra income that will help support her grandmother and siblings.
This Valentines, we are asking our donors to consider making their donations a gift to their loved ones by supporting Nenkashe Education Centre through GlobalGiving. You can do easily do this by going to: https://help.globalgiving.org/customer/en/portal/articles/2340577-how-do-i-order-a-gift-card- and make your appropriate choices.
Thank you very much for your continued support for Sylvia and the other children who are on the Nenkashe Education Centre program.
