We introduce girls to the full variety of careers and options and inspire them to aim high! After these challenging years of missed milestones, supporting schools in connecting with amazing women role models is the best way to help. Missed milestones and paused in-person learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic have led to a severe impact on students' support networks and mental health. The impacts have also added to our list of challenges to fight gender stereotypes and increase girls' self-esteem. The percentage of girls who describe themselves as confident declines more than 25% throughout the middle school years and reportedly does not return to pre-middle school levels for the remainder of high school.
Women role models educate girls about a variety of careers and help girls combat gender stereotypes playing a major role in their educational and professional choices. As the pandemic restrictions start to ease yet schools and girls still face several issues, our work is more important than ever. We urgently need to raise funds to support our school partners and provide our free programs to their girls, so girls across the US can be inspired and feel more hopeful about their future.
Research shows engagement with role models broadens girls' minds, reduces stereotypes, and boosts their expectations of success. Since launching in 2020, we have served 200+ girls across 16 school partner events, enrolled 130+ incredible role models from diverse backgrounds, and developed several new curriculums and resource guides to support teachers and further girls' learning.
