Appreciation to the Donors

Our appreciation and honest gratitude to our donors for giving us the opportunity to assist refugees/asylum seekers in our community. Your donations enable us to pay our trainers, reimburse our volunteers and provide transport support to some of our service users. Your support helps us to integrate and up-skill our refugees/asylum seekers.

Comments from Service Users

Esegenet from Eritrea  said: I now have a great opportunity to learn English and Music skills in SD and I am making international friends, feeling more  confident and happy. Mahisa from Iran said: I have been learning different skills with people of backgrounds. Asu from Kenya said: With SD I am able to learn Sheet Music and meet different people to enrich my life. Now my English is improving with the help of SD and it has changed my life and made me to have new friends from different cultures and faiths. Shazi from Tanzania said: Learning English and Sheet Music in SD has improved my skills and I will try hard to obtain a certificate and go to further education.  Amaha from Ethiopia said: SD has given me a chance to make friends and integrate better.  Amina from Somalia said: I am learning English with SD staff as well as Music classes to gain more skills. SD as an organisation is able to obtain these interesting individual feedbacks from the beneficiaries because of your generous help and we are grateful.

Our scheme of work on skills development and service delivery to the people in our community have the potential to improve their social integration, confidence and self-development. Some participants have the prospect to obtain nationally recognised qualifications that would give them better opportunity for jobs, small business development and progression to further education. Social integration, skills development through accredited qualifications and certificates will give our service users better chances in life. Monitoring and evaluation reveal that the activities we deliver enable them to integrate faster and gain skills better in: (i) Functional literacy/numeracy to improve communication; (ii) Music/cultural songs to encourage recreation and social integration. (iii) Mentoring new migrants and referrals to other appropriate organisations. We aim to ensure our service users achieve skills nobody can take away from them. That they receive advocacy and tools to mentor new migrants and contribute positively to the community. Some project photographs are attached for your attention. We appreciate your support and we are thankful.
