Appreciation to the Donors
We appreciate your donations that have given us the opportunity to assist refugees/asylum seekers in our community. Before the Covid-19 official lockdown on 23 March 2020 in the UK your contributions enabled us to pay our trainers, reimburse our volunteers and provide transport support to some of our service users. This service delivery will continue after the lockdown is fully lifted. Hence your contributions will continue to help us to integrate and up-skill our refugees/asylum seekers.
Comments from Service Users
Bintu from Sierra Leone said: I am happy to find SD to learn English and Music skills. Also to make friends with people from different countries and backgrounds but the Coronavirus lockdown has disrupted everything. Adis from Eritrea said:Covid-19 has taken over my learning of different skills such as English and Sheet Music and I missed all the new friends from different countries that I have made. Eva from Sudan said: With SD I have the opportunity to meet new people and learn Sheet Music, it makes me happy and more confident. Nooshin from Iran said by a phone call: My learning of English and Sheet Music has been messed up by Covid-19, when will this end? SD as an organisation is able to obtain these interesting individual feedbacks from the beneficiaries because of your generous donations and we are appreciative of it.
Our scheme of work on skills development and service delivery to the people in our community have the potential to improve their social integration, confidence and self-development. Some participants have the prospect to obtain nationally recognised qualifications that would give them better opportunity for jobs, small business development and progression to further education. Social integration, skills development through accredited qualifications and certificates will give our service users better chances in life. Monitoring and evaluation reveal that the activities we deliver enable them to integrate faster and gain skills better in: (i) Functional literacy/numeracy to improve communication; (ii) Music/cultural songs to encourage recreation and social integration. (iii) Mentoring new migrants and referrals to other appropriate organisations. We aim to ensure our service users achieve skills nobody can take away from them. That they receive advocacy and tools to mentor new migrants and contribute positively to the community. Due to Covid-19 lockdown period, no new project photographs have been taken or attached. We fully recognise your support and we will continue to be thankful.
