This project provides 160 Liverpool migrants (mostly Refugees/Asylum seekers) additional skills and nationally recognized certificates for better chances in life. It involves preparation for NCFE/ABRSM Qualifications/Certificates for progression to higher education/jobs. An extension due to demand from our previous project of providing 200 Refugees/Asylum seekers opportunity to learn new skills. Music is a part of it, English literacy/numeracy and upskilling schemes.
There are more than 3000 Refugees/Asylum seekers in Liverpool, new ones arrive everyday with some traumatized/confused due to different experiences. Many lack recognised job skills and acceptable qualifications. They find themselves caught in a cycle of deprivation and can only dream of achieving economic/financial independence. It's very challenging for adults/young people who need lifelong skills, especially if they lack ability to speak the language and look different.
To provide migrants capacity building in: (i) Functional literacy/numeracy for communication, qualifications/certificates for progression routes to higher education/employment-opportunities by NCFE in: (ii) Information, Advice and Guidance; (iii) Mathematics; (iv) NCFE/ABRSM Performance-skills and Music-technology; (v) Career-path development for jobs/small-business. They will achieve lifelong skills/certificates, receive advocacy/tools to mentor new migrants and contribute to the community.
The project will help 160 Refugees/Asylum seekers to gain confidence/capacity development needed to acquire skills/certificates for progression to higher education, better employment opportunities/small business development. They will settle down and integrate better in their new community for sustainable economic/financial independence.
