Taking Epilepsy Medications out to our clients

Children of Blessing Trust provides services to over 1,000 clients with disabilities. 221 of these clients have Epilepsy and attend our Epilepsy Clinic, which is offered twice a month at our main Centre. An additional 151 clients attend one of our 11 Outreach Epilepsy Clinics, offered once or twice a month.  Some of our Outreach Clinics are 30 to 40 kilometres from our main centre and this makes it hard for families to bring their children to our main centre every month to get Epilepsy medications, especially as the children get older and heavier.  Chisomo, our nurse goes to the 11 Outreach Clinics every month bringing the essential epilepsy medications to the children.

Frazer is 3 years old.  He faithfully attends our Children's Rehabilitation Program at our main centre where he receives physiotherapy twice a week.  He is learning to gain head control, roll, and sit by himself.  He was screened for malnutrition and qualified for the full program, receiving both Chiponde, a fortified peanut butter paste every week, and full protein porridge every 2 weeks to take home and eat there.  When he attends his physiotherapy sessions he is part of our Feeding Program and eats porridge or a full meal halfway through the session.  Once a month Frazer attends our Centre Epilepsy Clinic to get his epilepsy medications.  Seen in the first picture with his mom and Chisomo, our nurse

Linos is also 3 years old.  He attends one of our Outreach Clinics twice a week receiving physiotherapy, and preschool sessions. He is also part of our Feeding Program and eats a full protein porridge at every session.   He is now able to talk, sit, crawl, and eat by himself.  He is learning how to walk with a walking frame.  He can now participate in his preschool lessons, learning his letters, doing puzzles, and copying sounds.  One year ago he was assessed at our Epilepsy Clinic at the main centre where all new clients must start.  Now that he is stable on his medications Chisomo, our nurse brings his epilepsy medications out to the Outreach Clinic every month.  Seen in the second photo with his mom.

Both moms bring their children to Children of Blessing Trust because they see their children are happy and are changing and learning new skills.

Thank you so much for your support.  We could not do what we do without you!
