CELEBRATING SUCCESS OF OUR WORK SCHOLARS

By GIRLIE S BERNARDEZ | Project Leader

Education changes lives, but for many deserving students, earning a college degree requires extraordinary determination. At Foundation University, our Working Scholar Program continues to prove that financial limitations do not have to define a student's future.

This past May, we proudly celebrated the graduation of a new batch of working scholars who successfully completed their college degrees while balancing academic responsibilities with part-time work on campus. Throughout their years in the program, these students served in various university offices, libraries, laboratories, and support services, where they learned not only practical workplace skills but also the values of responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and service.

Many of these graduates are the first in their families to earn a college degree. Their achievement represents years of perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. By working several hours each day in exchange for educational assistance, they transformed what once seemed like an impossible dream into reality.

The Working Scholar Program does more than provide financial support—it builds confidence, develops leadership, and prepares students for life beyond graduation. Employers consistently recognize the resilience and work ethic of our working scholars because they have already learned how to manage responsibilities, solve problems, and excel under pressure.

As these graduates begin their professional careers, they carry with them not only a diploma but also the experience and character that will help them become productive members of their communities. Some have already secured employment, while others are preparing for licensure examinations or pursuing further studies.
