In 2021, heavy rains have caused enormous damage throughout Japan, most recently from Kyushu to the Tokai regions, including Saga City where Civic Force's branch office is located. In July, heavy rains triggered mudslides that devastated Atami, killing 19 with an additional 9 missing. The landslides destroyed homes and infrastructure that left many stranded and without homes. The recent rains across Japan continue to add to the damage and body count.
In response to this disaster, Civic Force is conducting the following activities: 1) Dispatch staff to the affected area to conduct needs assessments; 2) Procure and distribute emergency relief supplies including food, water, sanitary products, PPEs, and cooking supplies; 3) Support volunteers and local NPOs working in the affected area; and 4) Any other support activities required in the affected area
This project will assist the devastated victims of this disaster, providing relief supplies and the support needed to get them back on their feet.
