Dear Friends,
Thanks to you support we started the project: “Healthy Women, Healthy families" that will be implemented in 4 villages of Kuçova Municipality. The funds raised will make possible the establishment of one group of Health Outreach Activists, who will attend a workshop (three days), offering of 5 gynecological visits (purchase of materials and PAP-tests); publication of notebook.
The first group of Health Outreach Activists was established in Tapi village and approximately 35 females (girls and women of different profession such as: nurses/midwives, students, entrepreneurs, teachers) expressed the desire to join the project. The first workshop took place on February 15, 2018 and it focused on "Health Activists and community mobilization". The workshop aimed to inform and train participants about the basics of the work with the community and what is expected by them as Health Outreach Activists in terms of learning new concepts and new information about women’s health or community issues and being able to transmit such knowledge and raise awareness among other women and the whole community. During this training the participants practiced the ‘informing follow up sessions’ as they were expected to carry out during the project with their own groups.
During the activity the trainees were encouraged to increase their information about the community dynamics, participation and strengthening as well as were motivated to explore the way of educating their own community members by making use of traditional local way of teaching combined with new updated knowledge. Some of the sub-topics that were discussed during this workshop were: The process of learning and teaching; transmitting the knowledge; the community dynamics and participation; Understanding the new ideas.
Gynecological examinations - offered the specialized medical assistance for the women who will be part of the project. The examination also aims in brining awareness among women for the importance of medical check ups that helps to prevent the diseases. During the first examination that was conducted on February 23, 2018 there were in total 24 women examined and smear test was done too. The examinations were conducted by a team of two persons (a gynecologist and a lab) and it was organized at the health center of the village. A list of the women checked was compiled with the respective prescription.
