Healthy teeth equal healthy kids at Hearts of Hope

Ten of our children had their yearly check-up at the local wonderful dentist, and while they were in the dentist's chair, they were met and treated by the Miss World South Africa finalists! Who would have thought that they would meet some real life 'tooth fairies' while they were in the dentist's chair!

Because we are a transitional children's home, we have new children arriving all the time. As the children who are placed with us, come from poor and underresourced communities, they have often had little or no dentistry.

We are reliant on caring and giving dentists who give of their time to help the children and on people like you who enable us to take our children to the dentist for their annual check-ups or for any emergencies that they might need.

We are so close to achieving the goal on this project. Please help us get there..

We have 52 children living at Hearts of Hope, and each one of the older children will, as most children do, lose their baby teeth and expect the tooth fairy to come. The tooth fairy gives R5 (27c!) per baby tooth.

Little "P" had saved up all her tooth fairy money and her pocket money to go to the hair salon for her 8th birthday and to have a new hairdo. The hair appointment was her actual birthday surprise which she was thrilled about - because she would have needed a little more than the R15 that she had managed to save up! How beautiful does she look in the photos?

Thank-you to all the donors who have given towards our healthy teeth project - we are nearly there - just $200 to go and we will have covered the cost to take the 40 older children to the dentist.
