A 5.3 magnitude earthquake and a series of minor tremors have struck Haiti's southern peninsula less than six months after the devastating 2021 earthquake. At least two people have been killed, and dozens of homes have been destroyed, leaving many Haitians fearful of returning to their homes. GlobalGiving is working closely with our partners to get emergency support to those in need. Your donation will go to vetted nonprofits providing emergency relief and shelter in Haiti.
Haiti is still reeling from the impacts of the 2021 earthquake and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The most recent earthquake has made current response efforts even more challenging. As GlobalGiving learned from our response to the 2010 and 2021 earthquakes, it is vital to get funds to locally-led nonprofits that can respond to the community needs to provide both emergency relief and long-term recovery.
All donations to this fund will support earthquake relief and recovery efforts in Haiti. Initially, the fund helps first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter. As needs emerge, we will support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the impacted area.
