Dear friends of Providence Portland Medical Foundation, during the final quarter of 2013, Jack and Lynn Loacker offered a challenge to help us move our project forward. Their challenge offered to match all gifts between $1 and $1,000 dollars. As of December 31st, 2013, $30,290 was raised in qualifying donations to fully meet the Loacker match.
The Loacker match was presented in a letter authored by Julie Randall. Julie is a cancer patient from Australia. She travelled to Portland for the life-saving clinical trial she could find only here or in Spain. She chose Portland, OR. While in our community, Julie needed a place to stay. She made her temporary home in our current, out-dated Gilroy Guest House. As Julie says, "I was pleased to have a roof over my head, but what I really needed was a better healing environment".
That's our goal with our new Guest Housing plan. We want to create a safe, convenient and affordable "home away from home" for all those patients who are coming to Providence Portland Medical Center...from across Oregon, throughout the nation, and around the world. With your help, we are gaining traction.
