Ecuador is one of the Latin American countries most affected by the coronavirus, is in the sixth week of isolation. Guayaquil is the city hardest hit by the coronavirus. In mid-March, with the cases increasing, the Ecuadorian Government closed its air and maritime border, declared a health emergency and a state of emergency, with which the mobilization was restricted. As of April 23, the number of infected is 22,106 and 1,636 deceased aproximately.
In Guayaquil, the health system is collapsed, businesses are closed and many families do not have food and essential medicine to survive, which in the short term cannot be solved. They do not have work and savings for living. These families are at risk of famine and disease. Added to this is the pain who have lost loved ones and not having the resources to give them a decent burial.
"Guayaquil: Rising from its ashes", gives us the opportunity to reach 1,000 families providing basic food and medicine kits to help them survive. We have a team of volunteers who can distribute to identified areas and they are also able to provide families simple safety guidelines to prevent Covid-19 and social support as a contingency in psychological and emotional well-being.
The health crisis is perhaps the most difficult generational moment that Ecuador has experienced, due to the health, social and economic implications. This pandemic has generated a lot of fear and uncertainty what will happen tomorrow, thats why we need to face it with solidarity and personal care. Your contribution will help support 1,000 families until the quarantine ends.
