The first day of school always brings a mix of emotions for new students. Some look enthusiastic about making new friends, while others feel a bit awkward stepping into an unfamiliar environment. Behind all that energy, the School Environment Orientation Period (known locally as MPLS) serves as a crucial milestone—providing students with essential life skills to help them navigate their school years safely, comfortably, and confidently.
It marks not only the start of a new academic year, but also the first step for thousands of students adapting to a new school environment. Recognizing the importance of this transition, several schools in Bali collaborated with KISARA to provide education that equips students with vital knowledge and life skills right from day one.
Understanding how critical this momentum is, KISARA volunteers stepped up once again to participate in MPLS activities across 14 junior high, senior high, and vocational schools (SMP/SMA/SMK) in Bali Province. The program reached thousands of incoming students through peer-to-peer education on topics deeply relevant to teenage life—including:
• Sexual and Reproductive Health
• HIV/AIDS Awareness
• Mental Health
• Sexual Violence Prevention
• Anti-Bullying
• Self-Respect and Respect for Others
Moving away from traditional, one-way lectures, the sessions led by KISARA volunteers were dynamic and interactive. New students engaged in educational games, took quizzes, and discussed real-life scenarios they might face in their school environment. KISARA strives to create a relaxed atmosphere where participants feel safe asking questions and sharing opinions without fear of judgment. This peer-to-peer connection remains KISARA’s greatest strength—being close in age makes communication feel relatable and authentic.
Through these MPLS activities, we hope every new student can kick off their educational journey equipped with knowledge, self-confidence, and the courage to protect themselves and respect others. Meaningful education isn't just about getting to know a classroom—it starts with knowing oneself, understanding rights and responsibilities, and growing together in a safe, supportive environment.
Join us in empowering the next generation. Reaching thousands of young people across Bali is only possible through the dedication of our youth volunteers and the generosity of supporters like you. By backing KISARA PKBI Bali, you directly fund training for peer educators, educational materials, and school outreach programs that create safe spaces for teenagers to learn, speak up, and thrive.
Thank you for standing with Bali’s youth!
