Green Map System Updates from China

By Wendy E Brawer | Founding Director

On September 4, 2009 the Xiamen Evening Paper published a four-page story about the Green Map produced by China Mangrove Conservation Network. The story includes three Green Maps already published, and a report about a training workshop in August. The Mangrove Conservation Green Maps address climate adaptation and pollution prevention while protecting habitats. Xiamen is a coastal sub-provincial city in southeastern Fujian province of about 2,400,000 people, where hopefully many have now learned about sustainable living and Green Maps through this recent publication!

The Fresh Environmental Protection Agency of South China University of Technology (SCUT) recently published 2,000 copies of their "Higher Education Mega Center of Guangzhou Green Map." Their future plans include working with their university to distribute Green Maps to every new freshman in their student body of over 33,000 students!

Getting involved with Green Map Systems now will help further promote Green Mapmaking in China!
