Every day, tons of coconut shells and agricultural waste pile up on Accra's streets, polluting the environment and contributing to climate change. This project turns that waste into opportunity by empowering young climate entrepreneurs to transform organic waste into clean-burning cooking briquettes and biochar, creating greener livelihoods while providing cleaner cooking energy for families.
The young people who could solve this problem are being held back-not by a lack of skill or determination, but by a lack of opportunity. Following a successful pilot, a trained and motivated group of youth is ready to take the next step. What's missing are the equipment and workspace needed to turn that readiness into lasting impact. Your support helps close that gap.
Your donation helps launch a youth-led Waste-to-Biochar Innovation Hub for young entrepreneurs, giving them not just a project, but a pathway to real skills, real income, and a meaningful role in Ghana's growing green economy. Coconut shells and other agricultural biomass will be carbonized and transformed into eco-friendly cooking briquettes, reducing reliance on traditional charcoal, lowering waste, and helping to reduce pressure on Ghana's forests.
The project will demonstrate how organic waste can be transformed into clean energy and sustainable green jobs. As it grows, the initiative will train more young people, expand briquette production, and introduce biochar solutions that support climate-smart agriculture. This scalable model can be replicated across Ghana and other African cities facing the twin challenges of waste pollution and youth unemployment.
