An update on your donations to Green Ambassadors

By Vaneeza Akbar | Project Contributor

We are excited to share the first update on our Green Ambassadors project—a transformative initiative aimed at empowering Pakistan’s youth to become proactive leaders in climate action. With a population where 68% are under 30, Pakistan holds immense potential to cultivate a generation committed to environmental resilience. Yet, the urgency couldn’t be greater. The catastrophic 2022 floods, which affected over 33 million people and caused $30 billion in damages, highlighted the critical need for stronger community-based climate leadership.

Recognizing this need, PILDAT launched the Green Ambassadors project to bridge the gap between youth and climate advocacy. Our goal is to train 100 young leaders from disaster-prone regions, equipping them with practical skills in climate action, community engagement, and policy advocacy. These young change-makers will be the voice for local solutions that address Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change.

Since the project’s inception, we’ve made important strides in laying the foundation. Our team has conducted extensive research and mapping to identify key regions and communities most at risk. We will also start developing comprehensive training materials covering essential topics like disaster preparedness, climate justice, reforestation, and grassroots activism.

However, to fully realize this vision, we need your support. With a funding goal of $140,000, we still have $139,820 to raise. Every contribution—no matter the size—brings us closer to empowering young Pakistanis to become climate leaders in their own communities. Even initial workshops can spark a ripple effect, inspiring local actions that build resilience and sustainability.

We believe that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but the changemakers of today. By supporting this initiative, you are investing in a brighter, greener, and more resilient Pakistan.

Thank you for standing with us.

Warm regards,

Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development And Transparency – PILDAT
