During our trip to the Philippines, one of our priorities was supporting our partner school on the remote island of San Miguel, where students currently have no access to a reliable water supply. To help create a healthier, safer learning environment, we're working to build a second water tank that will provide clean drinking water so students can stay hydrated and focused throughout the day.
The island's limited infrastructure leads to inconsistent water resources, and the problem extends beyond beyond one school. A partner school, like San Miguel National High School, is also in urgent need of a functioning water tank, especially as the island prepares for a new island kitchen initiative that will provide food to children and families across the community.
By constructing a water tank system on the school grounds, this project will provide students with a consistent and accessible source of clean drinking water every day. The water tank will address an essential need and strengthens the foundation for long-term educational success, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
With a reliable water source in place, the school will see sustained improvements in student health and academic engagement, laying the groundwork for better educational outcomes over time.
