From 15th March 2020 when the Kenyan Government abruptly closed all the schools due to COVID-19 pandemic, 60 members of our staff from the two locations where we are currently operating (Nairobi and Kisumu counties) were also sent home abruptly. From that time it has been extremely hard to survive for these staff whose only hope was the compensation from our organization. This project appeal to our well-wishers to help raise US$18,000 to assist our affected staff for six months.
Our staff has been adversely affected since the lock-down that affected our schools and community projects. Our staff have gone through untold problems and since our income has totally gone to zero, we are unable to pay them. Their plight and suffering becomes ours as we see many of them lose hope as our government have announced that schools cannot be opened till January 2021. This project will help us pay our 60 staff at least half of their salary till the school opens next year.
It will help give them hope and make them come back to help us realize our vision when the schools will be opened. By assisting them they will not leave our projects and begin looking for other things to do. Should they leave, our vision will be adversely affected and recruiting new staff who will run with the vision will be an uphill task and will take us back many years.
The project will keep alive hope to 60 staff making them continue to help realize our vision of transforming the communities.
