Final report The Paths of Empowerment

The following report is carried out in order to evaluate the results obtained after the implementation of Paths of Empowerment 4th edition, between October and November 2017.
It will include an analysis of:
- General group process
- Operation of the technical team

The Individual process of each participating woman in relation to the technical and subjective level and the Kip's will be shared in our next report

General evaluation of the group process

At the beginning of the project, we found a group of 13 women willing to be part of the process.
The pre-established requirement for the call implied that each woman who was to participate had the interest of designing a work enterprise that would allow her to improve her personal and economic autonomy, or the desire to acquire new technical and subjective tools that would enable her to optimize her enterprise in if it is already working.
This criterion determined that when starting with the workshops, we find ourselves with a group marked by a wide heterogeneity of situations in relation to desires, needs and possibilities. Although this multiplicity of circumstances did not constitute an obstacle in itself, it implied the continuous planning of strategies that would include in parallel the development of the individual plan in its heterogeneity, as well as the strengthening of the group plan. That is to say, dynamics that were thought with the aim of being able to work on the situation analysis of each particular case, with its consequent project and action plan, as well as, that allowed to develop and enrich the group framework, providing as a result greater cohesion , a stronger network among the participants, which was revalued as a support and accompaniment resource.

We emphasize that from the beginning we were able to evaluate that each of the women had both with the organization El Gauchito, and with Paola its coordinator, a previous link, constituted by affection and trust. Added to this, several of the women had already established relationships of friendship and / or friendship with each other for sharing other activities within the institution. Both variables, produced that, when starting the workshops, we found a pre-established group, factor that facilitated the assembly and strengthening of the network, as well as the creation of patterns of trust, coexistence and the passing of the meetings in a Warm and committed climate.

These initial conditions also allowed that, through the different proposals for the workshops, it was possible to work with dynamics that promoted the participation of each and every one, contributing their own experiences, ideas and suggestions, with respect to the undertakings of the others. This modality of participating in the projects of their peers, in turn has strengthened them in their own, since through the exchange and appropriation of their projects, not only were the affective bonds enriched through the joint construction, but also the personal enrichment and the own project were favored.

A successful new edition is finished!

This report corresponds to the workshops VI to VIII by Fundación Oportunidad. The previous report has included the work from the initial stage of the call to the Workshop IV. Workshop V was in charge of Man Power, central partner in this project, since it is in charge of the process of tutorials that have started immediately finished the stage of socio-labor training by Fundación Oportunidad.

At this time the work of the FOP has been completed, having fulfilled satisfactorily with the objectives set.

It should be noted, however, that the desertion of women has been a critical issue in which we have dealt with the responsible professionals of the Amparo Center. We have conducted telephone interviews with each of the women who have had difficulty sustaining care, finding different causes that explain their desertion. The reasons cover a range that ranges from personal difficulties to having already found a job.

We understand that the vital situation of these women, undermines training processes extended over time. The economic, time and family resources that are mobilized to attend 9 meetings (Meeting of convocation + 8 Training Workshops) of two hours each, are not simple to sustain. This has led us to think about another working frame for possible future editions, consisting of days and half days of work combined with virtual tutorials. This would allow the design to be adjusted to what the field presents as a condition of possibility, avoiding, in this way, imposing a format that hinders the process itself with the consequent inefficiency with respect to the economic and professional resources destined.

We believe that by making the necessary adjustments that this first edition has allowed us to detect as improvement points, we will be able to amplify the subjective effects in the participating women.

The evaluation has been made taking into account quantitative as qualitative variables. As for the hard data, the assistance has been, as we mentioned, the critical point of this project. We have started working with 19 women, of whom + - 6 have managed to sustain the process. However, and this is important to note, among some of the women who are not among the 6 who have had regular attendance, we have been able to verify through their own testimonies the positive subjective effects of the work performed. These data allow us to ratify the proposed new framework.

A fully new edition ! July-August 2017

"Pathways to Empowerment" is being developed in partnership with UNFPA, Under Secretary for Gender and Sexual Diversity - belonging to the Human Rights Secretariat of the Province of Buenos Aires - Centro Amparo, Man Power and Fundación Oportunidad. Each of these strategic partners plays a differentiated role, carrying out tasks with precise objectives.

This first report corresponds to the first stage of project implementation. After the initial tasks related to dissemination and convocation, carried out by the Undersecretariat of Gender and Amparo Center, has begun the execution of training workshops on subjective and technical tools, by the Oportunidad Foundation. The 26 of June has begun the workshops meeting, to date, mediating the scheduled schedule.

The group with which we are working is made up of + -15 women. The heterogeneity of the participants, in terms of age group, formal education level attained and work experience, has been a significant plus in enriching the group process.Attendance to the workshops, in some cases is sustained and in others is more erratic and sporadic. Fundación Oportunidad is aware of these modalities to establish appropriate strategies that seek greater involvement. Fundación Oportunidad is working with two populations. As mentioned above, with women in the Workshops and Training Sessions Action (CA) with the professional team of Centro Amparo. The work with Amparo professionals has developed in a sustained and committed way. We have been able to establish a cooperative link that contributes to the good development of the CA Sessions as well as the achievement of the project objectives.

The logic of the project, dynamically integrates the work in the field, and the transmission of knowledge under the training-action modality with the professional team. Immediately after finalizing each Workshop, we conducted the Action Training Sessions, which have precise objectives.
