By Oleksandr Mykytiuk | PROJECT LEADER
Two months ago, we shared the story of twelve-year-old Veronika from the Chernihiv region of Ukraine — a young girl whose life was forever changed when a shell hit her home. In that tragic moment, she lost her sister and her right arm. Yet, despite unimaginable pain, Veronika never stopped believing in herself. She continues to study, draw with her left hand, and dream about the day she can once again hold a pencil and embrace her loved ones.
Thanks to your kindness, this project raised its first contributions toward Veronika’s bionic prosthesis. The funds collected have supported essential steps — medical consultations, prosthetic evaluations, and psychological support for Veronika and her family. Every donation became a message of compassion and hope. It reminded Veronika that she is not alone, and that people around the world stand with her on this journey.
As we close this project on GlobalGiving, we carry forward everything that has begun here. The funds raised will remain dedicated to Veronika’s prosthetic program as we continue coordination with specialists and partners in Ukraine and abroad. Your generosity has not only brought Veronika closer to her dream but has also become a symbol of strength for many Ukrainian children growing up in the shadow of war.
From Veronika and all of us at the Citizen Ukraine Charity Foundation — thank you for your support. You turned a story of loss into a story of resilience and gave hope a hand to hold.
