Acres of Mercy is building a fully resourced learning center to open up education to 175 vulnerable children yearly that come from poor families' homes within and around Nguluni, Kenya; Provide coaching & mentoring to teachers; We will improve students' learning environment by building/completing 6 new classes; Training teachers in delivering reading programs; Mentoring teachers to help at risk children not drop out of school; Provide learning & playing resources to at risk children
Children from poor families cannot afford quality education due to high cost.of education.Children from these families do not receive quality foundation education because their parents/guardians do not make enough to afford it. Public school education is not free.Teachers charging un-affordable remedial fees; Are ill equipped to provide help needed by weak children. School achievement low due to poor foundations; Limiting access to further education/skills. Poverty cycle continues
Acres of Mercy will provide equity in learning and education to the most needy of children from troubled and unstable homes, help ones with learning disabilities and ensure interventions in education helps the whole development of the child. A key component in our program is teacher mentoring, training and coaching to help weak students overcome their learning challenges especially reading and comprehension. We will also provide a better learning environment with resources to enable learning.
The project will provide these children with skills necessary to come out of poverty cycle by giving them an opportunity to further their education and increase their capabilities and chances in life.
