This project will build 4 groundwater boreholes in Southern Rwanda to provide safe water to 4 communities. It will supply water filters to 731 vulnerable families, including those with disabilities, and train 225 family representatives on water purification, disease prevention, sewage disposal, and recycling. The goal is to improve sanitation, reduce waterborne diseases, and address issues like child labor and gender-based violence, especially for young girls fetching water from distant wells.
Rural Rwandan communities face waterborne diseases, gender-based violence, and school dropouts. Due to safe water being scarce and in distant places, children drop out of school and others particularly young girls are abused while on their way to distant wells putting their life in danger. Parents therefore decide not to send their children to distant wells; instead, they fetch stagnant water which leads to waterborne diseases. This project will benefit 731 families of persons with disabilities.
Fields of Hope, through Water Drop Project will build 4 groundwater boreholes in 4 communities; 1 in each community. The project will provide a water filter to each of 731 most needy families in each community. The project will also provide training to 225 family representatives selected from each community about water purification, prevention of water borne diseases, proper sewage disposal and recycling.
When this project is funded, 4 groundwater boreholes in 4 communities; 1 in each community will be built and 731water filters supplied to needy families; children will be able to access water easily and they will be free from waterborne diseases. The entire families of persons with disabilities and Rwandan rural communities will be safe and public health burdens will also be minimized. Children will continue their studies and gender-based violence will be prevented.
