Feed an orphan today!
Rashid with his box of khajoor
Thank you for your generosity in gifting khajoor (dates) to orphans this past Ramadan. We added some ration boxes and goodies for the children as all are fasting, despite being very small.
Rashid (name changed), 7, is never really hungry. There is plenty of food in the orphanage he lives in and lots of friends to play with. But, still, he looks forward to mealtimes. That's why everyone can laugh and joke and occasionally on special occasions or as a surprise, they are given treats (like kulfi - Pakistani ice cream - or something a donor has randomly given). He misses lunchtime during Ramadan, but does love iftaars as everyone is so happy and joking together. He knows it is supposed to be a serious experience, but for him and his friends, it's happy and full of bonding. The best part is breaking his fast with a khajoor as it is sweet. He has a sweet tooth and normally, it's very rare for them to get sweet treats. He gets to eat these sweet dates every single day in Ramadan.
This year, he got his very own box of khajoor - 30 dates - for the entire month. It was all his own and he was so tempted to have more than one, but saved one per day, as there were many blessings in breaking a fast with a khajoor and he sure did like blessings.
Thank you for gifting Ramadan dates to Rashid. Please do give more so more orphans can experience this special feeling ofb breaking their fast with a tradition full of sweetness and blessings. Khajoors are not only sweet, but hearty, and a very healthy way to begin a meal.
Starting today, September 14, GlobalGiving is matching all donations at 50% up to $50, until funds run out. So if you give USD 100 or more, your donation will be increased by $50. That's a month's supply of khajoor for 25 orphans, just for donating today! Thank you!
