Celebrating 25 Years!

By Pam Amundsen | Project Leader

On a warm, balmy morning in Nairobi just a few weeks ago, adoptive parents and adopted children gathered together where their stories first connected – New Life Home Trust. Donors, corporate partners, board members, staff, parents, and children – 450 adults and 140 children in all – joined the festivities on Saturday, 16th February to commemorate New Life’s 25th Anniversary. We were honoured by the sheer number of families from all over the world that chose to return for the occasion!

To celebrate we invited friends and family of New Life to attend a private function celebrating our impact over the years: our founders Clive and Mary Beckenham, the many generous donors who have helped us carry out our mission, and the adoptive parents who have transformed the lives of abandoned infants by opening their homes and hearts to these children.

New Life Home Trust was born from both a seemingly impossible dream and a dire need. Originally started as a hospice care centre for three HIV+ infants not expected to live out the month, New Life
quickly evolved into a Baby Rescue Centre when those three infants survived, and began to thrive, under the care of New Life staff.

Now, 25 years later and with 4 New Life homes throughout the country, we care for around 200 children on a daily basis between the ages of 2 weeks and 18 years. New Life staff focus on quality care with the hope of family reintegration, foster care, or adoption for each child. This is made possible through years of partnerships with local hospitals, the police, children’s agencies (children department), and adoption agencies.

Our recent celebration was the first of four 25th Anniversary events we plan to host this year. We’re very grateful to our generous partners who are helping to make these celebrations possible. Join us in commemorating our 25th Anniversary bymaking a contribution in honour of rescued infants, becoming a member of ourSponsor A Crib programme, volunteering at a New Life home, becoming an adoptive parent, or making an in-kind donation. Thank you for celebrating with us!

Best,

Pam Amundsen
