TARIRO project will increase income for one hundred needy women in rural Zimbabwe. These women have no access to banks or jobs. Desperately poor, their options are limited where resources are scarce. When these women learn to form savings groups - they will begin their journey to empower themselves, their families and most importantly, to restore hope - TARIRO.
The economy in rural Zimbabwe is dire with the general populace desperate to engage in any activity that generates income, whether legal or not. With family structures, education, healthcare and marriages on the decline, there is a noticeable increase in unemployment, child delinquency, HIV/AIDS, and unnecessary deaths. Inflation and ultra-high cost of living have left impoverished communities at the mercy of organised gangs and intervention from charitable organisations.
Mutare has favourable weather conditions for bountiful agricultural harvests. The region receives around 125 days of rain a year and there is abundance of rich soil for cultivation. The inhabitants are engaging in farming so with a modest amount of financial support to secure agricultural equipment and resources. Tariro educates rural women and collaborate with the women to reconfigure their wealth mindset, teach them to set S.M.A.RT goals.
There is a well-known African Proverb, "if you educate a man, you simply educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you have educated the whole nation." With the knowledge the women acquire, they will remold their communities and pave the way for a better future. The women can then contribute to the family's income as equal partners and enjoy the respect and benefit this partnership provides. Furthermore, families will have food, medicine, education, and better living standards
