We are pleased to submit our latest progress report for “Give a Goat: Help 2,000 Ethiopian Women”, a livelihood empowerment initiative designed to strengthen economic independence, nutrition security, and resilience among vulnerable women across rural communities in Ethiopia. During this reporting period (November 2025 – February 2026), the project continued to transform lives by equipping women with productive livestock assets, practical training, and community-based support systems. ________________________________________ Project Overview The “Give a Goat” initiative addresses: • Rural poverty • Women’s economic marginalization • Child malnutrition • Limited income-generating opportunities By providing goats alongside veterinary support and business training, we enable women to generate sustainable income while improving household nutrition. ________________________________________ Key Achievements (Nov 2025 – Feb 2026) Distributed 480 goats to vulnerable women-headed households. Provided livestock management training to 520 women beneficiaries. Conducted animal health and vaccination campaigns in partnership with local agricultural offices. Established 12 Women Livelihood Groups for peer learning and savings mobilization. Launched a “Pass-on-the-Kid” model, where first-born goats are transferred to another vulnerable woman in the community. This brings the cumulative project total to: 1,320 goats distributed 1,450 women trained in small-scale livestock management and financial literacy ________________________________________ Early Impact & Beneficiary Stories Income and Dignity Restored Alemu, a widowed mother of three from the Amhara Region, shared: “Before receiving the goat, I depended on neighbors for support. Now I sell milk and save money every week. I feel respected again.” Women report: • Increased household milk consumption • Additional income from milk and goat sales • Ability to cover school expenses for children • Improved self-confidence and decision-making power Nutrition Improvement Goat milk is improving child nutrition in many households, especially in drought-prone rural areas. Three months ago, No One Down Relief Organization (NODRO) launched the transformative project “Give a Goat: Help 2,000 Ethiopian Women”, a life-changing initiative designed to empower vulnerable and displaced women across Ethiopia through sustainable livelihoods and economic independence.

This project is built on a simple yet powerful idea: a single goat can change a woman’s life. By providing goats and training in animal husbandry, we are helping women secure stable sources of income, nutrition, and dignity — empowering them to rebuild their lives with hope and resilience.

How Our Project Is Progressing So Far

Since its launch in July 2025, the project has made remarkable strides across the Amhara, Oromia, Afar, and Tigray Regions, reaching some of Ethiopia’s most affected communities. Working closely with local cooperatives and women’s groups, NODRO has been able to distribute livestock, deliver essential training, and build strong community support systems.

 Achievements from July – October 2025

ü  Distributed 750 goats to 375 women-headed households across three target regions.

ü  Trained 520 women in goat management, breeding, and milk production.

ü  Established 12 Women Livelihood Groups to encourage collective saving and support.

ü  Initiated Community Goat Banks, allowing women to pass on offspring to new beneficiaries.

ü  Partnered with three local veterinary offices to ensure animal health and vaccination.

ü  Facilitated entrepreneurship workshops enabling women to diversify their income through dairy and manure-based products.

Early Results & Community Stories

Hope Reborn in Tigray:

Mulu, a 32-year-old mother of three, shared,

“Before NODRO came, I had lost everything. Now, my goats are not just animals—they are my security and pride. Their milk feeds my children, and their offspring will help me send them to school.”

Women Leading Change:

In Oromia, a group of 40 women established a “Goat Milk Cooperative”, producing cheese and yogurt for local markets. Their income has doubled within three months, inspiring other women in nearby districts to join.

A Cycle of Giving:

In Amhara, each woman who received a goat agreed to pass on one offspring to another vulnerable woman. This “Give Forward” model ensures continuous empowerment and community solidarity.

Challenges We Face

Despite our progress, we encountered several challenges during the quarter:

ü  Prolonged drought in parts of Afar and Oromia affected grazing and water access.

ü  Rising animal feed prices increased operational costs.

ü  Some areas faced insecurity, delaying goat delivery.

ü  Limited funds prevented scaling to additional target woredas as planned.

However, our local teams and women’s groups demonstrated incredible resilience—sharing resources, adapting feeding systems, and keeping the project’s spirit alive.

What’s next?

In the next quarter (Nov 2025 – Jan 2026), NODRO plans to:

ü  Distribute an additional 1,250 goats to 625 women.

ü  Train 500 new women in livestock and small business management.

ü  Launch Mobile Veterinary Support Units in remote areas.

ü  Expand Community Goat Banks to 10 new districts.

ü  Introduce Goat Milk Processing Training for cooperative groups to enhance income generation.

Sustainability and Long-Term Vision

The “Give a Goat” initiative is more than a relief effort — it’s a sustainable livelihood model. Each goat creates a ripple effect, improving food security, children’s education, and community well-being.

Our long-term goal is to establish self-replicating women’s goat cooperatives that will continue expanding even after donor funding ends. By 2030, NODRO envisions 20,000 empowered women sustaining themselves through goat farming and local enterprise.

Ethiopia’s conflict-affected regions face widespread poverty, loss of livestock, and displacement. Many women are sole providers for their families. This project restores hope, dignity, and financial independence—one goat at a time.

ü  $500 supports the construction of a small goat shelter and water trough.

ü  $5,000 helps establish a women’s goat cooperative and veterinary support system.
