Project Report on Give a Goat: Help 2,000 Ethiopian Women (#70796) Dear GlobalGiving Community, Warm greetings from No One Down Relief Organization (NODRO). We are pleased to submit our latest progress report for “Give a Goat: Help 2,000 Ethiopian Women”, a livelihood empowerment initiative designed to strengthen economic independence, nutrition security, and resilience among vulnerable women across rural communities in Ethiopia. During this reporting period (November 2025 – February 2026), the project continued to transform lives by equipping women with productive livestock assets, practical training, and community-based support systems. ________________________________________ Project Overview The “Give a Goat” initiative addresses: • Rural poverty • Women’s economic marginalization • Child malnutrition • Limited income-generating opportunities By providing goats alongside veterinary support and business training, we enable women to generate sustainable income while improving household nutrition. ________________________________________ Key Achievements (Nov 2025 – Feb 2026) Distributed 480 goats to vulnerable women-headed households. Provided livestock management training to 520 women beneficiaries. Conducted animal health and vaccination campaigns in partnership with local agricultural offices. Established 12 Women Livelihood Groups for peer learning and savings mobilization. Launched a “Pass-on-the-Kid” model, where first-born goats are transferred to another vulnerable woman in the community. This brings the cumulative project total to: 1,320 goats distributed 1,450 women trained in small-scale livestock management and financial literacy ________________________________________ Early Impact & Beneficiary Stories Income and Dignity Restored Alemu, a widowed mother of three from the Amhara Region, shared: “Before receiving the goat, I depended on neighbors for support. Now I sell milk and save money every week. I feel respected again.” Women report: • Increased household milk consumption • Additional income from milk and goat sales • Ability to cover school expenses for children • Improved self-confidence and decision-making power Nutrition Improvement Goat milk is improving child nutrition in many households, especially in drought-prone rural areas. Savings and Collective Strength Women Livelihood Groups are building savings pools and rotating credit schemes, reinforcing long-term resilience. ________________________________________ Challenges Encountered Despite encouraging progress, we continue to face: Rising livestock market prices Sporadic drought affecting grazing areas Transportation and veterinary service costs Limited access to feed during dry seasons To mitigate these risks, NODRO has: • Promoted fodder cultivation training • Strengthened partnerships with local veterinary experts • Encouraged group-based feed purchasing models ________________________________________ Monitoring & Accountability We ensure transparency and sustainability through: Household follow-up visits Veterinary health monitoring Livestock tagging and tracking Quarterly beneficiary income assessments Community feedback forums Current Key Performance Indicators (Cumulative) 1,320 goats distributed 1,450 women trained 12 active livelihood groups established 85% livestock survival rate 68% of beneficiaries reporting increased household income ________________________________________ What’s Next? (March – June 2026) In the upcoming quarter, we aim to: Distribute 350 additional goats Expand the “Pass-on-the-Kid” chain to 8 new communities Train women in value-added dairy processing (yogurt and butter production) Strengthen savings and microenterprise development Improve climate-resilient livestock management strategies ________________________________________ Long-Term Vision Our goal is not just asset distribution—but generational transformation. By empowering 2,000 women with productive livestock and business skills, we are: • Reducing poverty • Strengthening food security • Enhancing women’s leadership • Promoting community-based resilience We envision self-sustaining rural women entrepreneurs who uplift entire communities. ________________________________________ Why Your Support Matters In rural Ethiopia, a single goat can: Provide daily nutrition Generate consistent income Build financial stability Restore dignity and independence Your generosity continues to turn vulnerability into opportunity. Impact of Your Donation $50 provides a goat for one vulnerable woman $100 covers training and veterinary care $500 supports a Women Livelihood Group $5,000 funds large-scale distribution in one district ________________________________________ Closing Appreciation We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the GlobalGiving team and our generous supporters for standing with Ethiopian women on their journey toward economic independence and dignity.
