Pre pandemic we had started working on the hearing screening program which is the key for early identification and intervention of hearing impaired. With the onset of Covid -19 it was time to rethink everything including the therapies that were provided in person. We had to change our modality to suit the requirement and reach out to the beneficiaries wherever they were to provide our early intervention services through Tele practice services and we reached 40 plus children and did more than 200 therapies sessions.
Since the situation got normalized, we could reach out in the community and get the opportunity to visit in the community to do the testing of the early identification and intervention for the children which was a great experience. We have been able to do the test screening of 750 plus children in the age group of 0-6 years in the community and parents were also supportive during the time.
We are glad that we reached out to more than 300 AVT and Audiology sessions in one month, online and face to face sessions with the children. As we could reach out to and explain to them the need of attending therapy through Tele practice although we had never interacted with them in person.
Established in 2010, the Dhvani - Early Intervention Centre for Hearing Impaired is a unique and comprehensive program envisioned by Vipla Foundation. It aims to provide early identification and intervention services to young children suffering from hearing loss, by providing them with state-of-the-art facilities under one roof.
With your continued support, we aim to provide support to children with hearing impairments, and keep them engaged during this pandemic.
