India is currently grappling with the vicious second wave of Covid-19, and its toll has come in fast and hard, and needless to say in most places, it comes at the expense of the most marginalized children. Without urgent action, this health crisis risks becoming a child- rights crisis. Disruptions to society have had a heavy impact on children’s safety, health and wellbeing and their future. The condition is aggravated by children’s lack of access to school, friends, teachers, social workers and the safe space and services that schools provide.Children have been disconnected from the brick and mortar education system hence depriving them of all social connect with friends, teachers and the world at large. Children with hearing impairments are especially affected, often lacking access to batteries for hearing aids, therapy sessions, and the requisite handholding required to integrate them into the education system.
Established in 2010, the Dhvani - Early Intervention Centre for Hearing Impaired is a unique and comprehensive program envisioned by Save The Children India. It aims to provide early identification and intervention services to young children suffering from hearing loss, by providing them with state-of-the-art facilities under one roof.
With your continued support, we aim to provide support to children with hearing impairments, and keep them engaged during this pandemic.
