July 2026 Progress Report

By Camellia Huygens | Partnerships Manager

Together, your GlobalGiving donations have raised £16,071, which could help our trained volunteer counsellors answer over 4017 contacts to Childline from children and young people, when they are feeling scared, afraid or lonely.

Childline Year-End Update (1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026)

Thanks to the support of our donors and partners, Childline delivered 169,629 counselling sessions during 2025/26, providing vital support to children and young people across the UK. Demand remained high, with mental and emotional health (33%), family relationships (11%), and suicidal thoughts and feelings (10%) the most common concerns raised.

Children increasingly chose to access support online, with 75% of counselling sessions delivered via chat and email, ensuring young people can reach us in ways that feel safe and accessible.

We continued to expand specialist services, including our overnight Twilight service, which delivered 9,675 counselling sessions between midnight and 7am, a 24% increase on the previous year. Mental and emotional health and suicidal thoughts were the most common concerns raised overnight, highlighting the importance of having support available around the clock.

Our Childline Connect service also provided tailored support for young people with ongoing and complex needs. During the year, the team completed 1,948 assessments, created 191 new support plans, and answered 11,569 contacts, with 103 young people receiving active support at year-end.

Online safety remains a growing concern for young people. Through our Report Remove service, delivered with the Internet Watch Foundation, 2,204 reports were made during the year—a 73% increase on 2024/25—resulting in 2,951 images, videos and URLs being removed from the internet.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers. Childline now has more than 1,000 active volunteers, with almost 700 new volunteers recruited and trained during 2025/26, helping us be there for children whenever they need support.

Thank you!

Over 80% of our funding comes from those who choose to give to us, and we are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from those who donate through GlobalGiving.

It is only with your support that we can be there for every child, whenever and wherever they need us. In the face of new challenges, you are helping us create a safer world around them.

Together we can change children’s lives. Together we can stop abuse.
