Equipping youth for success

By DAVID OMONDI OTIENO | Founder & Executive Director

Dear supporters,

Thanks to your support, we have made significant progress in our efforts to provide free school uniforms to rural girls and boys in our community. In response to the increasing demand for uniforms and the challenge of raising funds for the free uniforms, we have launched the Sare Designs Vocational Education Training Program. This program  equips out-of-school girls with practical skills in tailoring and entrepreneurship and empowers them to start their own businesses or gain employment opportunities. We then involve some of these girls to produce uniforms that are sold at subsidized rates to students in the community.

The first cohort of 30 girls  have been making impressive progress these past few months. Their foundation in core tailoring skills has grown steadily, along with their confidence. This hands-on training allows them to develop practical skills in operating sewing machines, applying basic sewing techniques, and accurately measuring and cutting fabric for various uniform components.

With more students able to access quality uniforms and education, and more young girls gaining the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams, we are creating a sustainable model that will enable us to create a lasting change in the lives of youth in Kisumu, Kenya

We are grateful for your contribution to making this program a success.
