The Food Security for Rural Elderly in Thailand project in Nang Rong District has been progressing despite financial constraints. To date, we have received only $35 in donations through GlobalGiving, and implementation has been sustained through self-funding and local support.
Progress So Far
1. Preliminary Meetings (Month 1) – Conducted discussions with local leaders, elderly groups, and community representatives to introduce the project and gather input.
2. Study Trip (Month 2) – Organized visits to successful vegetable gardening initiatives, allowing participants to exchange knowledge and learn practical techniques.
3. Designing Vegetable Plots (Month 3) – Worked with elderly participants to plan accessible and manageable garden layouts based on their needs and available resources.
Next Steps
•Conduct training on vegetable planting in the coming month to equip participants with essential skills for growing and maintaining their gardens.
•Seek additional funding or local partnerships to support the next phase, including setting up vegetable plots and installing solar-powered water systems.
Despite financial limitations, we remain committed to empowering elderly participants with food security solutions and appreciate any further support to continue this initiative.
