Project Summary:
This project has implemented at the rural setting established 10 non-formal school cum library to provide free education for disadvantaged children in remote areas at Kurigram Sub-District in Bangladesh. The project also providing nutrious food & biscuit to 200 malnourished poor children. The project also aims to build a school cum library well equipped with necessary books and critical literacy support to 200 poor outreach children. The project plans to fulfilling the nutritional requirements of school-going children and promote children's right to education.
Problems/ Challenges:
Malnutrition has many underlying causes, poverty being only one possible factor. Many other factors play into families' inability to provide their children with the macro and micronutrients they need. Rice is rich in carbohydrates but is poor in micronutrients and Bengali diets tend to over rely on this main staple. Good nutrition requires a diverse diet rich in micronutrients. Micronutrient fortified school meals can support children to overcome the dietary challenges their families face.
Possible Solutions:
School feeding/meal programme will be contributed to achieving inclusive and equitable quality education and improved nutrition fordisadvantaged primary school children (SDG 2 and 4) through a nutrition-sensitive school meal programme. A freshly-prepared nutritious cooked meal(mixed food) will be served to all children those were attended school following each alternate day. Each packed 75gm fortified biscuit will be served other then mixed food scheduled of the week.
Objective:
The primary objective of school cum library is to provide access to information organize coocking food or fortified biscuits for all learners aiming to enhance their nutritional defficiency and increase enrollment to school.
Progress: As compared to plan a little achievement was reported due to unavailability of funding of the project.
Longterm Impact:
The project will provide meal and fortified biscuits to 200 poor/disadvantaged learners to reduce anemia prevalence and improved micronutrient status. Substantially Increased rate of enrollment, school attendance and reduced rate of school dropout and also improved child health and nutrition; social protection. Fortified biscuits have improved school enrollment by 14.2% and reduced the probability of drop-outs by 7.5% that impacted in communities in the long run.
Appeal:
The project interventions we have been started from early July,2024 and continued according to project plan.Due to shortage of required funding expected outcome/results was not possible to achieve. This project would not have been possible without the kind support and help of donors, friends and any individuals.
