This project will help to provide food and health care for more than 1000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the mountains of Kayah State Myanmar. Traumatized by the civil war and the military coup since February 2021.
Since the military coup on 1st of February 2021 more than 170.000 people have been displaced around the area of Kayah State. Armed clashes have escalated since the end of 2021. People continue to face challenges in accessing basic services, livelihoods, and humanitarian assistance. Many IDPs are being sheltered by local host communities in overcrowded conditions. The security situation remains tense and continues to pose significant challenges.
This project will assist the affected population of IDPs with food and non-food items. Through the support with food and healthcare as well as hats and blankets for the kids (especially those under 5 who face the biggest challenges), we help cover the basic needs for IDPs.
This project will help minimize the long-term effects of malnutrition among children and young adults on the run and prevent people from starving to death so that when the military clashes end, they will have the strength to return to their home villages and take control of their lives again.
