Distribution of note books on September 2017
100 more Children from poverty striken families of Chennai - Cuddalore regions were provided with note books. There are many more Children in flood affected areas from Chennai to Cuddalore who require educational supports and school bags, tiffin boxes and water bottles. We have informed them that their request will be communicated to friends for help. VOICE Trust thanks you for your help through GlobalGiving and appeals for continued help so that we can cover more Children studying in rural schools.
The livelihood supports extended to single Women and Widows has brought in sustainability in flood affected villages between Chennai and Cuddalore. More Women have approached us for helping them to buy goats for self reliance. We have told them that we will inform you for continuity of such helps.
VOICE Trust sends this appeal to you through GlobalGiving. Please extend more help for educational supports for school Children from resource poor families and also for livelihood supports for single Women and Widows.
When houses were washed away in December 2015 floods, VOICE Trust appealed to friends for extending helps through GlobalGiving for rebuilding of homes. With help from friends, relief packages were given and livelihood schemes were introduced for 200 families in collaboration with local partners PMSSS (Pondicherry Multipurpose Social Service Society) and HESAT (Health Education for Social Action Trust). Educational supports also were given for school Children of Cuddalore flood families.
100 School Children will be helped with note books before July 2017 by utilizing the helps received from friends through Global Giving. HESAT, the local partner will join in this activity.
But, HESAT informs the requirements of guide books for school Children, free tuition centers in 15 villages and livelihood schemes for single Women including Widows.
Flood affected people want livelihood and education

Group of Women helped by goat rearing project
Cuddalore area was the most affected in the floods of December 2015. Many people lost houses. They wanted reconstruction of houses. In due recognition of supports from Friends through GlobalGiving, VOICE Trust together with local partners PMSSS and HESAT motivated flood affected people to choose livelihood projects and educational supports for progress in life. The Women accepted this and started goat rearing. 900 Women (500 through PMSSS and 400 through HESAT) have benefitted so far. From 3 goats given to them as flood recovery scheme under GlobalGiving and VOICE Trust project, 2 more young goats are now added, thus increasing their incomes for meeting family needs. Interestingly, these Women are also growing Azolla algae for providing nutrition to goats and also for agricultural fields. Over 600 school Children have benefitted through educational supports and special classes for preparation of Grade 10 and Grade 12 Government exams during March 2017.
Though many houses destroyed by floods have not been rebuilt, still, VOICE Trust joins the local partners to appeal to you for your continued supports through GlobalGiving for the following needs expressed by flood affected people.
1. Educational supports for 300 school Children
2. Livelihood supports for 150 Women headed families
3. Free tuition classes for 20 days in a month for 10 months in 15 villages
