HESAT team organizing review meeting
Review meetings were organized during March - May 2018 period with flood affected families of Cuddalore. They appreciated the emergency relief extended to them by many friends through Global Giving from January 2016. Though, their priority was rebuilding of homes destroyed by floods, still, they accepted educational supports for Children and livelihood schemes for single Women and Widows. During the final review meeting held by the local collaborating organization HESAT, the flood affected families appealed for the following:
- Guide books for 272 school Children with minimum of INR 300 per student.
- Goat rearing for 60 single Women and Widows with INR 5000 per Woman.
- Growing of herbals for native medicenes by 120 Women with INR 1500 per Woman
NGOs do continue to motivate flood affected families for approaching Government for schemes. It takes more time. In the meantime, it is important that you and we work through Global Giving for extending minimum supports for the integrated developments of flood affected families in Cuddalore. Please consider whatever you can.

Children in Cuddalore flood area use notebooks for school exercises
By Janet Preethi G | Project Leader
Thanks to donors through GlobalGiving, flood affected families of Cuddalore received emergency relief supplies in beginning of year 2016 and involved in livelihood enhancements by goat rearing. True, the main objective of this project was to rebuild homes destroyed by floods in Cuddalore and Villupuram Districts. Since only minimum donations for this purpose has come, from middle of year 2016, school going children were assisted with educational supports like books and notebooks. We will go in for rebuilding of homes after raising more funds.
63 Children have scored more marks in quarterly exams conducted in September 2017. The parents inform that children used the notebooks for school exercises and also for home works.
When VOICE Trust visited the flood affected area in Cuddalore for informing about the possible closing of the project, there was an unanimous appeal for continuing the project at least for extending educational supports for school going children. This was endorsed by HESAT – the local NGO Partner.
Hence, VOICE Trust appeals for extending educational supports for 366 school children in Cuddalore region with books, notebooks and guide books. Each child can be helped with 10US Dollars.
