On December 4, cyclone Michaung reached peak intensity as it approached the coast of Tamil Nadu with winds of 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph), equivalent to a high-end tropical storm. Persistent rains caused widespread flooding and inundation in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Extremely heavy rains lash South T.N on 18 December too. This project will support children with education utilities, women with sanitary napkins, and families with Rice and Groceries.
Though it has been a week since the flooding the situation doesn't seem normal. Especially for daily-wage families who have lost their goods like kitchen utilities, school students who have lost their books (exams are approaching), and women who are in an emergency and request sanitary napkins, milk powder for babies and many more requests. Some of them are staying in open spaces because they have lost their houses.
Your support will help over 2500+ families with their basic needs and we can also provide tarpaulin sheets, and fix roofs for houses that have been damaged. Children will restart their education, we will provide books, bags, watercans for school children who have lost their education utilities, and other supports for daily wage families
The project will provide people of flood-affected areas with basic needs and also strengthen them mentally. Shanthi is a widow, daily wage worker with 2 children, who is living in coconut leaf thatched house. Her house is completely washed out. There are hundreds of people like this. Our project will help them to come out of this situation.
