The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to help people affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
Thanks to your support, we have been able to:
- organize practical training on the use of new water purification equipment. As is well known, after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant was destroyed, people faced a lack of drinking water. New water treatment equipment has been important in responding to the emergency and maintaining public health. A total of 115 filtration systems were supplied. Among them are 10 large units, each of which can filter up to 1,500 liters per hour, and 5 have the ability to desalinate salt water. Smaller plants can filter 300 liters of water per hour. These filtration plants can help make existing water sources safe to drink and quickly solve the drinking water problem.
- In Kherson region, information sessions have been held by mine risk instructors on the risks of explosive ordnance for residents of Kherson communities and the region.
- conducted first aid trainings for Kherson residents. People have been taught how to stop threatening bleeding, conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and provide first aid to victims with wounds.
- March through May, the Ukrainian Red Cross distributed over 50,000 food parcels in Kherson.
- installed 19 mobile shelters in such settlements as Chornobaivka, Bilozerka, Stanislav, Dariivka, Kherson, Tomina Balka, Sofiyivka, Oleksandrivka, Novovorontsovka, Kreschenivka, Osokorivka and Ingulets. They are installed near healthcare facilities, markets, bus stations, and public transport stops to ensure people's safety and protect people in crowded places from shrapnel injuries. The area of each structure is 10 m², and it can accommodate about 10-15 people inside.
