First Latam Integral Center for childhood cancer

Months go by and we are getting closer and closer to having our integral pediatric oncology center. It has not been easy, the increase of construction materials, iron, and the economy of the country, have presented obstacles, that with the help of different professionals and advisors we have been overcoming as the difficulties arose. But we know that it will be worth it, and that the effort, the resources raised, and the time invested will allow us to have the first comprehensive center for child cancer patients not only in Chile but also in Latin America.
We still have a long way to go, and we are still in the process of raising funds in order to finance the interior spaces of the integral center, such as the nursing room, gymnasium for the oncological rehabilitation center, therapeutic care rooms, among others. Therefore, we do not give up, we continue forward to deliver the best quality and excellence that characterizes us as an institution and that makes us a reference in the country and in the region.

In the month of December, we carried out a technical visit to the land where the future Comprehensive Center for Children and Adolescents with Cancer will be located, located in the commune of San Miguel, Metropolitan Region. This large-scale projectaims to strengthen and transform pediatric oncology care in the country, integrating medical services, specialized rehabilitation, hospice, accomodations, and psychosocial support.

Representatives of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), companies in the construction sector interested in bidding on the construction of the building and Fundación Nuestros Hijos participated in the activity, who reviewed the technical, planning and economic aspects and the needs for the successful development of this center.

Currently, we are in the public bidding stage for the work, a public/private alliance, which will close on January 16, 2025, in order to select the company in charge of construction. This step is key to ensuring the start of works in the first quarter of 2025.

This center will not only offer high-quality medical support, but will become a comprehensive space for the well-being of children and their families, providing tools to face the disease with hope, dignity and quality of life.
