Project Summary & Progress Update

Over the past six months, our team has worked tirelessly to combat financial illiteracy in Port-de-Paix, Haiti , the most underprivileged region of Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas where over 50% of the population remains financially excluded. This significant exclusion negatively impacts economic growth, access to vital financial services, and contributes to youth unemployment.

Our Community Action Project focused on launching a robust hybrid financial education campaign (digital and in person) . It was designed to empower citizens with knowledge in budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. The campaign was supported by hybrid workshops, discussions with financial institutions, and outreach to students and small business owners.

Key Activities and Outcomes

Digital Campaign & Content Creation
We developed a digital outreach strategy using flyers, short videos, and infographics. These tools reached over 135,000 indirect beneficiaries via social media platforms.

Educational Sessions & Community Seminars

• Conducted 2 hybrid financial education sessions for over 200 students and 30 business owners in partnership with 2 local financial institutions, one school establishment and one university.
• Organized 1 public seminar that reached 500+ community members.

Stakeholder Engagement
Two roundtables were held with local cooperatives and financial institutions. These efforts led to the formalization of a partnership to sustain financial education initiatives beyond the project timeline.

Telling Our Story: A Community Transformed

One of our standout moments involved the director of one of the most popular financial institution in town that was very satisfied of the Quickbook session, the organization later was gratified partnership to realize a second edition reaching more people. Another one would include a female professional that has taken her whole allowed vacation to invest in her financial education through the Quickbook session launch. After participating in our training, she started tracking her expenses and opened her first savings account through a local cooperative we partnered with. Her story is one of many that illustrate the life-changing impact of this project.

In total, 130 individuals directly benefited from our programs (50 under 20, 20 aged 20–30, 50 aged 30–50, and 10 over 50). Our partnerships impacted 3 institutions, and we estimate our indirect reach exceeded 35,000 people.

Perspectives

We're now exploring sustainable communication channels models, such as forming Local Small business owners" group to reinforce long-term impact through the elaboration of ecosystem.
