Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, faces economic challenges worsened by financial illiteracy, excluding over 50% of its population from the financial system. This project provides financial education: trimestral Open Economic Conferences, Creole educational materials, and training 50 trainers in partnership with 5 local associations. Reaching 2000 people with a 5-10% increase in financial service access, Finance education into 3 school curriculums, and strengthen local businesses.
Haiti remains the poorest country in America, experiencing negative economic growth since 2020. More than 50% of the population is excluded from the official financial system. Pervasive FINANCIAL ILITERACY hampers financial inclusion, crucial for economic growth. Limited financial knowledge restricts purchasing power and access to essential financial services for the majority. This phenomenon impacts national budgets and exacerbates youth unemployment and socioeconomic disparities.
Provide financial education through a) Free trimestral Open Economic Conference session where the population can learn basics of management b) Develop adapted education material oriented to financial education: short explicit video in creole about saving/investments/ local financial institution's role and academic document that we will integrate in partner school curriculum c) Train the trainers: We partner with 5 local association in every sector that will volunteer to receive training.
It will enhance financial literacy for 2000 people all background, fostering a culture of saving, investing, and responsible money management. Potentially increase by 5 to 10 % access to financial services, and strengthen local businesses. By training 50 trainers and integrating financial education into 3 schools partner curriculums, the program ensures sustainability and scalability, creating a ripple effect of empowered individuals capable of driving Haiti's socioeconomic development.
