The quarter under review went very well.
Remembering that our work is very fluid in its nature and very often reactive in nature we achieved significant successes in the field.
Int he period under review we unfortunately had to attend to 12 poaching scenes where rhino was killed and the horns removed / poached.
We completed an investigation into other wildlife trade which included several vultures, lizards, tawny eagles and a variety of endangered plants which was found on a suspect. The resulting investigation led to the arrest of not only the suspect but alo uncovered a nest of corupt police officials and government officials.
Investigations into this matter and several other suspicious activities resulting from this arrest are ongoing and continues.
On a broader scale poaching incidents in the Kruger National Park has shown a downward trend mainly due to some sterling work by South African National Parks and rangers ont he ground. Unfortunately the parks surrounding the Kruger National Park has been hit hard with a deplorable figure of 22 rhino lost in one weekend in early January.
Investigations are ongoing and will bear fruit in due course.
On the education side we have managed to engage with a total of 296 leanrs who are in the study fields of science mathematics and biology having some great roadshow discussions with them on the work of forensics and anti poaching. Our work int his field was slightly hampered by COVID 19 restrictions on both the amount of learners we could accomodate but also the accesibility to the learners.
With recent lifting of some of the restrictions we hope to be able to resume our education programs completely in the near future reaching a lot more learners.
