Greetings from Puerto Galera, Mindoro Island – Philippines.
Thank you for your interest in our project, we would like to update you on our recent progress.
With the end of the school year in Adong and Lantuyang Mangyan Elementary schools, we have finally reached one significant milestone!
Thanks to your donations we were able to provide 350 students with healthy and nutritious meals consisting of rice, fruit and one protein element, prepared by some mothers in the community.
Our aim goes beyond combating child malnutrition: we also strive to ensure constant attendance at school to improve the students’ education.
By looking at the data from the beginning of the school year, we observed that, compared to last year, the attendance at school has more than doubled!
In fact, providing healthy lunches not only nourishes the children but it also encourages daily school attendance and reduces illness.
We take pride in this achievement, given that consistent and quality education is an essential goal in all our projects.
We are now looking for funds to further expand the project and provide the students with balanced meals in the upcoming school year starting in September, while also ensuring jobs for local mothers.
By coming together to eat every day, the children can in fact receive a balanced diet and attend school more regularly and with greater ease!
