We continued with the biweekly training sessions organised simultaneously in 3 fields for a total of 150 players. As part of the Football Learning Community initiative (Hagamos La Nuestra LATAM), we travelled to Colombia and Brazil for two in-person convenings to bring the discussions on feminist governance in sports to a broader group of stakeholders in the region. We also continue with weekly online working sessions to develop our Theory of Transformation for feminist football, which will be the main output for this phase of the initiative. To celebrate Argentina’s Women’s Football Player Day, we organised a gathering of the Coordinadora de Fútbol Feminista (Feminist Football Network) to think about our engagement in the 37th Plurinational Women’s Gathering in San Salvador de Jujuy in October 2024. We also analysed the political context of Argentina and exchanged strategies to resist and support each other in these challenging times.
As part of the Lifeba neighbourhood league, where 50 of our players compete every week, we qualified for the gold cup with the under 10, 12, 14, 16, and 19 categories. The league aims to promote the active participation of different marginalised neighbourhoods and social organisations in Buenos Aires City and the Metropolitan Area (AMBA).
We are planning to travel to the 37th Plurinational Women’s Gathering in Jujuy. During these three days, we will engage in dialogues and workshops with women and gender-diverse people from all over the country. We will also organise football pitches in public spaces to bring visibility to feminist football.
We will hold the annual plenary of coaches, during which we will take stock of 2024 and plan ahead for 2025.
We seek to guarantee the right to play and to a life free of violence for women, girls, adolescents and LGBTIQ+ people. Our objective is to hold football training sessions in a safe and professional space that fosters their technical, theoretical and practical development in sport and builds the capacity of players and team managers. Through this project, we aim to strengthen the presence of women and LGBTIQ+ as role models, guaranteeing its continuity beyond the current technical team.
Besides football training, we also address crucial issues such as menstrual health, mental health and access to justice, addressing the needs of participants through a holistic approach. The activities and workshops are designed to empower the participants and build community, ensuring that all voices are heard and that the project has a significant impact on the lives of marginalised women and LGBTIQ+ people. This is why one of our main concerns is to continue building our capacity to rise to the challenges of our territory.
With this funding, we want to continue expanding our network with governmental and non-governmental institutions through the Hagamos La Nuestra LATAM initiative. We aim to develop joint strategies to overcome barriers faced by women when exercising their rights.
