Dear GlobalGiving Donors and Supporters,
Warm greetings from Yemen.
On behalf of thousands of Yemeni schoolgirls and their families, the Support Yemeni Society Foundation for Development SYS extends our heartfelt appreciation to you and to GlobalGiving for your continued generosity and commitment to our project, “Feeding 1,000 Poor Rural School Girls in Yemen.” Your support is doing far more than providing a meal. It is helping vulnerable girls stay in school, learn with greater concentration, and look toward a more hopeful future. Every contribution helps remove one of the barriers that can prevent girls from fully participating in their education.
For more than six years, SYS has continued implementing this project, reaching thousands of vulnerable schoolgirls and providing practical support to help them remain engaged in their education. Today, our team remains active in the field, continuing this work at Al-Razi and Al-Najah Schools in Bani Al-Hareth District.
Our dedicated field team continues to provide nutritious breakfast meals to the targeted girls, helping them start their school day with greater energy and focus. For many students, this simple but essential support makes a meaningful difference in their ability to participate actively in lessons and benefit from their education.
Beyond Food Assistance: Investing in Learning and Opportunity
Our work does not stop at providing nutritious meals.
With the continued support of our generous donors, the Support Yemeni Society Foundation is taking a broader approach to supporting vulnerable schoolgirls—addressing not only their immediate nutritional needs, but also creating an environment where they can learn, participate, build confidence, and develop the skills they need for the future.
Alongside the regular distribution of nutritious breakfast meals, SYS continues to strengthen the quality of education through teacher training in active learning and student-centered teaching approaches. Teachers are being supported to use more interactive methods, including educational games, puzzles, group work, problem-solving activities, and other approaches that encourage girls to participate actively in their learning.
The girls themselves are also benefiting from non-classroom learning activities, educational games, educational trips, and activities designed to help them develop effective learning strategies. These experiences provide opportunities for students to explore, collaborate, solve problems, and gain confidence beyond the traditional classroom environment.
“The meals help us feel stronger and more ready to learn. The activities also make learning more enjoyable, and we feel encouraged to participate in class.”
— Schoolgirl beneficiary
Teachers are seeing positive changes in the way students engage with their lessons:
“The training has helped us change the way we teach. When students work in groups, play educational games, and solve problems together, they become more active and confident learners.”
— Teacher, Al-Razi School
School leadership has also highlighted the broader value of the project:
“This support is making a meaningful difference in our school. It addresses an important need for vulnerable girls while also helping teachers create a more engaging learning environment.”
— School Principal
These activities are helping create a more holistic support system for vulnerable girls, combining nutrition, quality education, participation, and personal development. By addressing both immediate barriers to learning and the longer-term factors that influence educational achievement, SYS and its partners are helping girls remain engaged in school and strengthen their prospects for the future.
Your contributions are helping transform support into opportunity—one meal, one classroom, one learning experience, and one girl at a time.
And the work continues.
The SYS team remains active in the field, working closely with schools, teachers, and students to ensure that donor support translates into meaningful and lasting impact. Every contribution enables us to continue reaching girls who need this support and to invest in an environment where they can learn, grow, and build a brighter future
To ensure this lifeline remains intact, we invite you to continue your journey with us:
