ESMABAMA will provide 3 hot free meals per day during the full school year to 900 boarding students, girls and boys, from disadvantaged backgrounds in rural areas of Mozambique, avoiding them of drop-out school. These students are orphans or from poor/ disadvantaged families, some of them also disabled. Help us give them the opportunity to study and break the poverty cycle in rural families!
In the southern Sofala Province of Mozambique, there are not enough schools for all children, especially secondary schools from grade 8 and above. So, many children are many kilometers away from schools. This means it is recurrent for children around 12 years old to stop studying. The boarding schools were set up to welcome pupils from remote areas and enable them to study. However, inflation and excessive prices rising, make it difficult for ESMABAMA to cover all the costs of meals and studies.
ESMABAMA will provide 3 hot meals every day during the whole school year in the boarding schools to 900 students. ESMABAMA grants scholarships to the most disadvantaged and exempts tuition fees in boarding schools to combat the high rates of rural illiteracy and provide access to education and a better future. Students will be able to continue their studies, develop their critical thought, have better job opportunities, and make better choices for their futures.
250 students/ year living at ESMABAMA's boarding schools graduate 12th grade with ESMABAMA's support. By doing so, these students overcome poverty, provide for their families health and well-being. This will benefit the whole community. 30 to 40% of the teachers who teach in Estaquinha, Mangunde, Barada and Machanga schools, where the boarding schools are, studied in these same schools, encouraging studies and employability in the region. Pop. is stimulated to enroll their children in school.
