As people are trying to get back on their feet, following the havoc the dreaded COVID19 pandemic has wrecked. Paralysing businesses and thwarting families' sources of income. Beneficiaries of the kind gestures of this project wish it could last forever. Parents were making relentless contacts to know when such manner will fall again. Recounting the benefit, Mrs S.O, a mother of one of the children reached explained how the breakfast items distributed during the program activities was a timely intervention. This is because, there was nothing to give her child for a breakfast the succeeding morning of the program. "What a shame-shielding event"(she gladly said).
We were glad to have wonderful testimony of how impactful our little kind gestures could be, meeting needs of our target beneficiaries in the face of limited resources. Oak Rural Health Organization couldn't have made people happy without your generous gift. We are grateful!
Every little and big dollars given cheerfully to this project ensures a child has a nourishing breakfast on his/her table, and contributes to making them meaningful persons in life.
It was a joyous and glamourous day! Children wanted to have more, while mothers were struggling to collect for their children. Oak Rural Health Organization rolled out her first activity of the year by giving out loads of nutrient filled packs to vulnerable children in Ibadan city slum in Oyo state. COVID19 pandemic continues to ravage homes and rendered most parents unable to adequately provide for their children. Adequate nutrients delivered to a child during the first 59 months of life ensures the child grows to an adult, contributing meaningfully to the society. Our investment on these future heroes helps them to build a strong immunity against infection and helps their brain growth and development. Our volunteers are glad to be part of this.
Mothers whose children benefited from this gestures expressed their gratitude, and appealed for more. Every bit of intervention like this, takes the children closer to a brighter future. Donations as little as $10 has an immeasurable impact on a child. While appreciating you for taking us this far, we need more to help the poor children.
COVID19 has not only taken people's lives, it has also unleashed a mayhem on the economic means of survival of majority who are lucky to be alive. We had a practical encounter during our house to house intervention at itamerin, a settlement in Akinyele local government, we discovered a man who now finds it extremely difficult to feed himself and the family.
Mr D.Y. is a petty trader who deals in the sales of groceries at a popular park in Ojoo, ibadan, same Akinyele Local government. He depends mainly on daily sales to sustain his family and himself. His business was negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic because of the various lockdowns, high inflation and general hardship which reduced patronage and thus resulting to low or no income for him. This spiraled into dependency on borrowed funds as his capital has already been used on feeding.
His children were at the receiving end as the effect is starting to eat deep into their health. This led us to consulting with people in his neighborhood, who then hinted us on how he was badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and that he is finding it difficult to continue his business. Consequently, he could barely feed his family.
Our team stepped in to lend a hand of help to the entire family for quite a while now. Our intervention at this critical time has given him a new hope that life is worth living. The children could at least get up to about 70% of their daily nutrients requirement.
Oak Rural Health Organization has been helpful in providing for starving children and families like that of Mr D.Y., there are many people whose hope needs to be revived through this kind gestures. Your generous donations has helped us tremendously in this feat. You can give more and encourage your loved ones to give. You will be proud of the wonderful impact your donations are making through our works.
As the novel COVID19 pandemic is teaching its lessons, only individuals can say the type of lessons learned. But generally for many, the means of economic SUSTENANCE is badly hit. For many parents, daily menu is only targeted at filling the tummy, but not nourishing the body. Children meal is supposed to be nourishing and not a mere 'tummy filling'. A nourishing breakfast containing essential nutrients will supply a child with over 50% of daily nutrients requirement. It was a joyous moment for the children and their mothers who benefited from food packages containing a 5 days breakfast for each of the children, distributed by Oak Rural Health Organization as part of our efforts to help children maintain adequate nourishment and support mothers in providing for their children to cushion the effects of COVID19.
“ ......this package will help me for the week and enable me to use the money I should have spent on my child’s breakfast on other things”.... This is the testimony of Mrs A.O, who is a beneficiary. She further stated that it was such an unexpected but timely move by the Organization and therefore appeal for more of this kind gestures.
The Organization continues to plan and implement mothers and children focused programs like this. We hope to reach more and make more people happy. As low as $10 will create a resonating impact on these children in a time like this. Donate to feed these children, then we will help them develop strong immunity against diseases, as well maintaining growth that is proportionate with their age.
With COVID19 still at large and unleashing mayhem on the economic survival of the majority. The Rural economically disadvantaged populations are more affected.
Olaitan is a 3 year old female child who lost her mother to a brief Illness in early 2020. Her care has since been taken up by her aunt who is a sewing mistress and petty trader. Goings have been tough for the family as their daily menu has not been totally dependent on quality but the available, due to inflation resulting from COVID19 pandemic. For a growing child like Olaitan, daily menu should be based on quality food enriched with nourishing nutrients. Interestingly, Oak Rural Health Organization make huge impact with as little as $10. With this, we are able to provide a month supply of iron fortified cereals, eggs and diary, which together can give more than 70% of the child's daily nutrients requirement. This helps to build body immunity against diseases and enhance adequate growth and development of the brain and other tissues.
Feeding a rural child with adequate nutrients which help them to grow up and become adults that contribute meaningfully in the society, is one of our priorities in a time when lost of purchasing power has drastically affected families' food supply. Donating as little as $10 helps us with an uninterrupted supply of nourishments monthly to this poor child. Donating more to this project will replicate same to other vulnerable children within the locality. You will be proud of putting nourishing foods on their table and giving hope for the future.
