COVID19 has not only taken people's lives, it has also unleashed a mayhem on the economic means of survival of majority who are lucky to be alive. We had a practical encounter during our house to house intervention at itamerin, a settlement in Akinyele local government, we discovered a man who now finds it extremely difficult to feed himself and the family.
Mr D.Y. is a petty trader who deals in the sales of groceries at a popular park in Ojoo, ibadan, same Akinyele Local government. He depends mainly on daily sales to sustain his family and himself. His business was negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic because of the various lockdowns, high inflation and general hardship which reduced patronage and thus resulting to low or no income for him. This spiraled into dependency on borrowed funds as his capital has already been used on feeding.
His children were at the receiving end as the effect is starting to eat deep into their health. This led us to consulting with people in his neighborhood, who then hinted us on how he was badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and that he is finding it difficult to continue his business. Consequently, he could barely feed his family.
Our team stepped in to lend a hand of help to the entire family for quite a while now. Our intervention at this critical time has given him a new hope that life is worth living. The children could at least get up to about 70% of their daily nutrients requirement.
Oak Rural Health Organization has been helpful in providing for starving children and families like that of Mr D.Y., there are many people whose hope needs to be revived through this kind gestures. Your generous donations has helped us tremendously in this feat. You can give more and encourage your loved ones to give. You will be proud of the wonderful impact your donations are making through our works.
