Project S.E.R provides nutritious meals, quality education, and happiness to children and families in Ferraz de Vasconcelos, one of Sao Paulo's poorest cities. With over 65% of the population facing social vulnerability, we empower them with tools to become positive change-makers, spreading the impact of our efforts throughout the community and transforming lives. Our line of action is based on guaranteeing access to basic needs and then developing children's skills and potential.
In Vila Santo Antonio, one of the 45 favelas in the city, and similar to many Brazilian favelas, public authorities struggle to ensure children receive adequate education, nutrition, and safety from street dangers. Although the public education system is universal, it often fails to provide comprehensive learning opportunities. Quality nutrition is crucial for fostering the abilities needed for individuals to become catalysts for change within their community, helping them to thrive and succeed.
We work with over 85 children in Vila Santo Antonio during after-school hours, providing daily nutritious meals to support their learning. Our programs offer global education, tutoring, socio-emotional learning, tech literacy, and sports and cultural activities. We ensure they have legal documentation, school attendance, and family support. By keeping them engaged in safe, productive activities, we help them thrive and stay off the streets, giving them the tools they need to succeed.
Our approach keeps children safe and off the streets, equipping them with essential skills and opportunities. Over time, this reduces hunger and vulnerability, fostering a generation of educated, empowered individuals who can contribute positively to the community's future. We also train, enable and develop the local economy and community, so that the local leadership can also become change-makers of their own social space, united with themselves to promote a better living experience.
